My Style & Rebel Points

Image
This one has the shoes in it.  I wear VANS because they are comfy and can cope with my wider feet.  Did I mention that I don't like shoe shopping either?  I've also realised that this jumper was buried in the wardrobe because the moths have been at it, but that's OK, I can wear it round the house.  I few moth-holes is no reason to chuck something out. This month I am claiming: Film Critic - 2 Living My Best Life Monthly Challenge - 1 Cornucopia - 3 Total = 6 The goalposts shifted considerably on that Cornucopia!  When you go to the Typeform you had to claim zero points if you'd been told to improve your Cornucopia and hadn't, and also to take a point off if you used words on your Cornucopia!  There were some gorgeous ones with words on that must've taken many hours. 😢 I'm claiming the full points because it did take over three hours, despite its simplicity.

Different angle! Woo!  These photos are getting tedious now.  I knew I wasn't keen on the My Style badge. Let's do a spot of Badgemin for it. 1. Take a photo of your outfit every day for a month. I seem to have a few days missing, so I'll just keep going into February.  Thirty days worth should be fine.  Then I'll answer the questions about favourite outfits. 2. What percentage of your wardrobe to you currently wear? Well, I have a long sleeve section for this time of year, and a short sleeve section for the summer.  I wear about 90% of what's in my wardrobe regularly. The rest is 'going out', and a winter skirt that I feel I should own and never wear. DONE 3. How would you describe your style in words? Basic. Brand loyal. Potterhead. How does it make you feel? Fine, thank you. What messages do your current looks share with others? She likes Harry Potter and stripes.  Which is true and I'm OK with that. DONE 4. Make a collage, scrapbook or Pinter...

My Style, Outdoors & Walker

Back home and exhausted.  Keeping to the Hufflepuff theme, but this top is actually M&S and not the usual Seasalt.  A hand-me-down from my mother. Minutes Outside: 6 hours 33 minutes Distance Walked: 50.69 km

52 Book Challenge & My Style

I bought the Dark Mark t-shirt at the theatre yesterday (spoilers!), and the photo is taken at the Travelodge.  Bit different to all the recent photos. Today I finished Death in the Spotlight by Robin Stevens.

My Style & Critic

Image
Off to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child today, so the outfit is heavy on the Hufflepuff. I'm also retaking Critic Badge as well, so here is a review of the above play: This play is so good.  I mean, I knew it would be, but it was interesting to compare it to Broadway.   It’s a smaller stage.   Notable differences were Hagrid, and a few flashback moments with young Harry and the Dursleys.   More talking sections, which might have been too much for younger children, so you see why they had to be cut for Broadway. The first play ended with arrival of the Dementors.   Beth convinced there was someone in the Dementor that flies across the auditorium. It didn’t get as close here, but that will be due to the different theatre sizes. We noticed that the UV writing is visible if you know what you are looking for!   In the first interval I realised that there was merchandise missing… but it turns out they change the merchandise displays at the end ...

Another non-stripe Seasalt outfit. Raining today while I was out Stewarding our Little Free Library.  Sadly, the patch of ground that it sits on isn't big enough to count towards the Observer Badge, which is a shame, because this area will change a lot in the Spring! 🌸

 Non-stripes, but Seasalt.

52 Book Challenge & My Style

Image
Today I finished: A Spoonful of Murder by Robin Stevens 8. Features the Ocean 35. Title Features Lyrics from a Song (which it sort-of does...) Different jumper, Seasalt. Obvs.  I actually rediscovered this one in my wardrobe, so maybe the decluttering is working?

Thought I'd try something different today.  Here is a "going out in the cold" photo for a change!  Although it is still heavy on the Seasalt. I'm off out to return this book to the Library.  It was one of those that suffered when the Library leaked and books had to be taken out.  The paperbacks weren't salvagable, but I've kept them in case I decide to make something from papier mache for the Craft Badge. Miranda is still legible, even if the pages are a bit puffed up and crinkly.

These stripes are actually a hand-me-down set of Joules stripes!

52 Book Challenge, Outdoors & Walker

The Dawnhounds by Sascha Stronach 3. More than 40 Chapters 9. Features the Ocean 24. Cover Without People 36. Has Futuristic Tech 46. Indigenous Culture Is It Just Me? by Miranda Hart 30. Picked Without Reading the Blurb Minutes Outdoors - 3 hours 3 minutes Distance Walked -  38.23km.  The knee is still hampering me.

January Bonus - Cornucopia

Image
My Cornucopia, which I was very pleased with, even if I did have to draw the cute little things first and then add them on top collage-style, because I can't draw from scratch.  At least it wasn't collaged with stickers, which was illegal. Honestly, I expect Charley regrets making this worth three points, which is two more than a Monthly Challege and even one more than Merit Badge!  Some of thos Cornucopia's were dreadful and obviously banged out for the easy points.  I mean, I did this for the easy points! 😉  She had to make an update post clarifying that you at to spend at least three hours on it, so this actually passes, because I did.

My Roots - WikiTree Connect-A-Thon

Image
I'm using my work with WikiTree to complete the My Roots Badge for a second time.  The goal being to do enough work each month to earn the monthly Club 100 Badges, and claim the My Roots badge in July. This month I worked on the WikiTree Connect-A-Thon. I've also applied to join The England Project, to make English Profiles as good as they can be.

Seasalt, stripes, jeans and odd socks. Lovely book with Lego in it today at the Little Free Library.

Not stripes, but still a walking Seasalt advert!

 6. Mistletoe & Murder by Robin Stevens Distance Walked - 44.96 (not too bad with a twisted knee) Minutes Outdoors - 4 hours 47 minutes Stripes! Jeans! Nothing if not predictable!

The Chelsea Pensioners arrived in the Little Free Library today.  The first time that we have had a CD dropped off.  I think CDs are fine.  What isn't fine is when people leave half used hand cream pots and open packets of biscuits. 🍪  Still a Proud Hufflepuff.

52 Book Challenge & My Style

4. All the Light We Cannot See by Antony Doerr - this one counts toward the 52 Book Club Challenge 3. More than 40 chapters 7. At least four different POVs 8. Features the Ocean 24. Cover without people 5. Jolly Foul Play by Robin Stevens   Not stripes, but Seasalt and jeans.  This one actually shows my odd socks, so that's a thing as well.

My Style & 52 Book Challenge

Stripes and Jeans. Again! 😂 Book 3 - First Class Murder by Robin Stevens.  This one counts toward the 52 Book Challenge : A locked room mystery.

My Style & 52 Book Challenge

Stripes.  Jeans. Finished Arsenic for Tea by Robin Stevens.  This is book 2 for the year, but not all of the books I read will complete the 52 Book Challenge . Not sure if I'll claim the badge when I complete that, or when I've read 52 books.  Probably the latter.

  Proud Hufflepuff!

Walker & More Time Outdoors

I have decided to attempt the Walker Badge this year as this is the only form of exercise that I really get.  Rather than setting targets that I might break this month, I am seeing how far I walk in a regular month and then upping it next month.  This links up nicely with More Time Outdoors. I'll update this each Sunday with the two totals. Distance Walked - 46.35km Time Outdoors - 5 hours 48 minutes

Indoor Gardener

Keep five houseplants alive for six months. Have already succeeded with two, and I had a Terarium as a birthday present. So I have repotted these today as they weren't doing very well in a bit of soil surrounded by moss. They need to survive for another five months.  Hopefully they'll be OK in their new home. I also bought a little cactus and it was very dry and the roots were coming out the bottom.  It's been repotted in a Cleiog Ceramics salt pot! Not sure if I've done the right thing, tbh.  Royal Horticultural Society says to repot in something not too big, which this might be. I'm not ready for the Orchid yet.  Will do some research.

Starting Writer Again

Apparently you can keep earning the same Badges by doing different Clauses or doing the same thing again?!  Bit annoyed that I could've reached 75 points easily if I'd known this earlier Well, I want to earn more points for Mercury this year.  Starting with six months back here on the Blog to complete Writer. Don't expect much from the Blog when the six months is up...😁

Starting the awful My Style Badge.  Loads of photos of me wearing what I usually wear and deciding if I'd rather be wearing something else. 😕
