Badge Work Update
Holding myself accountable with a Badge Work update to head into October.
CRAFT - over three months try five activities.
I'm working on this badge through August, September and October.
I have completed projects in felting, weaving, origami and block printing.

The block printing was a Craft Along raising money for the Cats Protection League - Craft for Cats. It was brilliant! I immediately went and bought some more kits from The Arty Crafty Place to make Christmas presents.
I'm still working on my Desert Escape cross stitch kit, but I'm loving this as well. Even bought myself a subscription to the Cross Stitch magazine. When this piece is finished, I will have completed the required five Clauses. However, I do still have candles to make, so I'll end up with six new crafts.

CRITIC - over six months write a review of five things
I'm working on this badge between July and December.
I've written reviews for two exhibitions, a play and a book. This Saturday I am going to a gig, and once that is reviewed the badge will be complete. I may still review an album.
WRITER - a regular writing project for six months
I'm probably not being as regular with this as I probably should be, but I blame the cross stitching, so I'm not doing as much badge work because I'm doing too much badge work?!
The November badge is going to be a writing one, so perhaps it'll all pick up in November!
ACTIVIST
I am now going to count this as complete. Clause 2 was hard because it assumes that you have chosen to be an Activist on a big scale, rather than at a local level.
Clause 7 - Activism and the Arts. I did a mini scrapbook about Banksy (gotta love a fellow Bristolian) in my journal rather than making a separate scrapbook.
CONSCIOUS CONSUMER
Clause 1 - complete
Clause 2 - Buy only second-hand clothing. That is ongoing until the end of December.
Clause 3 - complete. Although this is more of a long-term life change to reduce overall spending.
Clause 4 - complete. This is also ongoing as I find new ways to shop more ethically.
Clause 5 - complete. Nothing much broke in the last three months!
Clause 6 - make at least 5 handmade gifts. Made a hedgehog brooch and the tea towel I block printed will be a gift. I'm also gifting the Desert Escape cross stitch when it's completed. I am planning on block printing some more tea towels for Christmas.
FUNDRAISER
Clause 3 - I have signed up for the Shine Walk but might not be completing it after spraining my ankle. I will count the Clause complete. Donate some money to Cancer Research, and do another charity walk once my ankle recovers.
Clause 5 - I have researched food banks and what they need locally. The food in our Asda trolleys goes to the local foodbank. (At least, it did. I noticed yesterday that the trolleys are no longer there.) The research suggest that donating money directly seems to be the best way to support the local foodbank. I have donated in September and October, and will donate again next month.
ADULTING
I complete this by dusting every hard-to-reach part of the house, and the easy parts as well. The house was so dusty. I did leave the house spiders in their special corners though. I have no problem with them, and they can live happily in our home. Especially the lovely one over the bed who catches the mosquitos. 💜
MONEY SAVER
The last Clause to complete was the same as Conscious Consumer. Nothing much broke, so nothing much needed fixing. Complete.
The quarterly badge, Carpe Diem, is also now over and completed
GOOD HABITS
I started this badge in September, but I have decided to stop it and restart in the New Year. I couldn't even get into the habit of recording whether or not I had managed my four positive changes.
I do have "The Power of Habit" on Audible, so I think it's best that I read that first and then spend 90 days making positive changes.
MY COLLECTION
Started this Wednesday 6th July and it runs until Friday 6th January. I will write a post about this in more detail.
