Board Games - Catan

Image
Catan is my choice for Euro game.  This is the first grown-up game that the children played and they still enjoy it, but only when they are in the correct frame of mind.  You can't play this if you're going to have a tantrum when your Longest Road is blocked!

Stargazer - Logbook - Dec Week 8

The final week of a very poor stargazing logbook! Monday 19th - overcast again.  It's much warmer now, but the rain is back.

Board Games - CoraQuest

Image
We gave this game to the children in their Christmas Eve hamper.  Family cooperative game - CoraQuest .  Designed by a little girl and her father during Lockdown. It's quite good, but after this Christmas Eve playthrough they have been reluctant to play again.  Maybe dungeon explorer games ar only any good for them when played on an iPad?

Board Games - Ice Cool

Image
Ice Cool is my choice for the category of dexterity.  It's a very cute game with lovely artwork, and very clever use of making the box itself part of the game.  However, I am rubbish at flicking penguins and I always get caught by the hall monitors.  Then my finger hurts.  Keeps the kids entertained, though.

Stargazer - Logbook - Dec Week 7

This week the weather has been literally freezing.  We had a day of overcast conditions when it snowed, after which the sky was clear, but it was not the weather for standing outside and looking at stars.  Temperatures dropped well below freezing. The moon was visible in the morning sky, though.  Beautiful. Waxing gibbous. Saturday 17th - Jupiter was visible early on, but it clouded over quickly. Sunday 18th - today we had freezing rain.

Board Games - Wingspan Asia

Image
Wingspan Asia finally arrived and I've been able to play the new Duet option with the gorgeous new birds.  This counts for Clause 4 "Play a game created this year", and also for the 'Animals' category.

Stargazer - Logbook - Dec Week 6

Monday 5th - overcast tonight, but the forecast for tomorrow until Sunday 11th is either clear skies or sun poking through clouds! Of course, then I totally forgot to lok at the sky at all.  Days of overcast and rainy evenings aren't making this very exciting! Thursday 8th - Full moon tonight.  This one is known as the Cold Moon, Long Night Moon or Oak Moon.  Decided I prefer Oak Moon.

Board Games - Dragonrealm

Image
Despite only showing two of them, this is the game I have picked for the Dice category.  You roll the dice to see if you have beaten the bad guys or gained entry to the locations.  I did quite well for once, these Lucky Socks certainly helped! Dragonrealm on Board Game Geek.

Board Games - Rhino Hero Super Battle

Image
Played a few rounds of Rhino Hero Super Battle with my son.  This game, although including Dexterity, I have chosen for the category of Children's Game.  I quite enjoy this, but it's a pain to pack away neatly!

Stargazer - Logbook - Nov/Dec Week 5

Monday 28th - foggy Tuesday 29th - overcast Wednesday 30th - the moon was breaking through the clouds about 5:15 this evening.  Noticeably a first quarter moon.  Jupiter also showing up through the cloud gaps.  Later in the evening it started to drizzle. Thursday 1st - foggy Friday 2nd - Sunday 4th - Hopeless, either raining or overcast

December - Monthly Challenge

Image
Make a Festive Ornament & Handmake At Least One Present This is the French Hen cross-stitch that I made as part of Conscious Consumer where you have to make gifts rather than buying them.  I always buy a new Christmas decoration for my children each year, but this year I have made them. I have also made a couple more cross-stitch gifts ready for Christmas. Take Part In Whamaggedon Oh, this is so happening!
